ZHL Stats

I propose the idea that we should try to track stats for every player in the league throughout the season. At the end of the season we can have these stats showing for leaders in important stats like goals, goalie %, etc. My thoughts are that we can have awards at the end of the season and then vote on Defensive, Offensive, Support, and Goalie of the season based on the stats. I would like everyones feedback on this like what stats would be important and other ideas regarding stats.

All of our banks should be reset, so maybe the games should be played on a new version of the map that is only used for league games. After each game there should be someone who takes a screen cap of the end of the 3rd period or OT (shootout doesn't display stats when it is over) and posts it in a results thread.

for ranking offensive players we could use their total points (so goals and assists, not the number points thing). Puck pickups/blocked shots and S/T could be an indicator for who is a good defender. Goalie's save % and GAA are better measures of skill than using ELO.

each week we could go through the posts and see who was the highest in their respective categories and call them mvp for that week of the league. we can give a skin to someone who had the mvp award the most in the regular season and for the playoffs. but that's up to leeroy and reputed.

Ideas for player awards

-Most goals award (regular season)

-Most points award (goals + assists) (regular season)

-MVP award (regular season)

-Vezina award (Best Goalie)

-Presidents Trophy (Best team in the regular season)

-MVP award playoffs (This would be awarded to the MVP of the winning or losing team in the finals.)

-Playoff champion award (The most important one)

Keeping track of statistics will be needed to figure out who wins each of these.

I'd have a lot of fun keeping track of stats and displaying them well. I'd be happy to take care of it as long as I get screenshots of the end of the game stats (end of period stats would give me more to work with).

Let me know what you think sofar. With a little work, I can link all the game results pages to the stats pages. Once a game is complete, all I have to do is edit the results page and everyone's stats update on the front page automatically.

Currently restructuring it to be more user friendly.

One thing I must add: The "shots on goal" number on the top of the screen is not equal to the number of saves + goals allowed, since some of the shots are blocked by skaters, and hit the post.

Message to everyone in the ZHL: Use the goalie stats shown by pressing "g". The goals allowed + saves = shots on goal by the other team.

Shots are really strange to keep track of.. Not sure what to do there.

Otherwise, everything is updated from Game 1.
