Because there is no ZHL equivalent match-up for a probe league playoff game, the rules for playoff eligibility are slightly different. Any player who appeared in more than 4 ZHL games throughout the regular season is not eligible to play in the Artanis Cup Playoffs. There are, once again, exceptions that can be made if a full squad cannot be fielded (but only if a full squad can't be fielded), and additional exceptions can be made at the discretion of a 2/3 majority vote of the other teams. For starters, here's a list of players on each team's roster that are not eligible to play for the Artanis Cup, in order of current ZHPL standings:
New Gettysburg Aviators
Tarsonis City Wildcats
Mar Sara Hazards
*indicates a player with 4 ZHL games played entering today; will actually be eligible if they do not play in last game of the season.
Note that Tassadar Cup Playoff appearances do not count against a player's 4 game maximum to remain eligible for the Artanis Cup.
- -As in the regular season, if not enough eligible players are available at the time of a Probe League Playoff game, a maximum of two ineligible players from that team's roster may play in an opposite role (goalie skates, skater goaltends). The difference with this rule for the playoffs is that this player cannot have played any ZHL games in the role they'll be serving in the Artanis Cup. Also, new addition to the rule: priority goes to the available player with the least ZHL games played during the regular season. So if two ZHL skaters are available to be the probe team's goalie, the one with fewer games played must be used (no Guerrilas in net, plx).
- -If this still isn't enough for a team to field a full squad, one emergency signing may be made to add a player not on any team's roster. This signing lasts for the duration of the playoffs, effectively adding that player to the team's probe league roster.
