The Free Agency

Post by Kholin » Fri Dec 18, 2015 10:34 am

With the Free Agency Draft coming up, I thought it would be important to give some pre-analysis on it, because we have never seen a free agency draft quite like this one. What makes this draft different than any other? The players. This draft has more top tier players than any other draft we have seen before, and it will turn the league on its head from the current standings. Who are the big names coming in the draft?

Vapour: Won S5, extremely experienced skater, will likely go first in the draft. Likely Owner: Maharishi
Guerilla: An allstar skater, top tier defender, all around play maker. Likely Owner: Tenkz
Rush: All star skater, solid forward. Likely Owner: Cubs
Art/Shinichi: Excellent goalie and skater. Likely Owner: Perplex or Water
Reimer: Top teir goalie, although iffy attendance expected. Likely Owner: Linking
Droplets: Perplex or Water
Irishlad: Former Allstar and first rounder, probably a bit rusty. Likely Owner: Eric

These seven players are all experienced ZHL players, with four former first rounders, two top tier goalies, and players with ZHL final title's to their name. With the current standings,

This will change the league drastically, because the current top 3 teams will not get one of these game changing free agents. Here is how I will predict the outcome of the draft and its impact on league.

Korhal: Picking up Guerrilla will be huge for this team. Tenkz, http, and Guerrilla already have a lot of chemistry built up from season 5 where they proved themselves to be a top team. Guerrilla has shown time and time again that he is a game changer, and this team will pick up lots of momentum from this draft.

Charmelons: Picking up Rush will be a big deal from this team which has struggled to support their star skater, Proster. Rush and Proster have chemistry from their 3K team, and the support of Rush on the ice will give this team two top tier skaters, along with ResSlayer, who is arguably the best goalie in the league right now. This will be a team to watch out for.

Kaldir Yetis: The Yetis will likely pick up Irishlad, but it remains to be seen if Irish will be able to practice enough to get back into form. Eric and Sir already provide lots of offense, so the addition of Irish might not impact their game too much. Eric may draft Irishlad and look to trade him off, or may keep him in the back pocket as a sub.

New Gettysburg: New Gettysburg already has their ZHL lineup for skaters, and won't have a shot at picking up a top tier skater, so they will be happy to get a top tier goalie. Reimer has already proven his ability in net, and even with spotty attendance, his saves can make a big deal for a team with only one defensive skater.

Braxis: Braxis will likely not pick up anyone game changing from the free agency, and will suffer when the infusion of top talent enters the league. Their standing will likely begin to slip as teams begin to have two first round level skaters.
Mar Sara: Maharishi and Vapour already have ZHL experience together, and this time they will have Stealth instead of Ooter to support them on the ice.

Vapor is top talent, and him and maharishi are formidable on the ice. If maharishi can either trade or train a top tier goalie, this team will be one of the top contenders for the finals.

Tarsonis: Tarsonis already has a goalie, and will be looking to get either Art or Droplets. Either skater will likely be a starter in ZHL and will boost the team considerably, but the jury is still out on whether or not this boost will be enough to deal with the other teams getting top talent.

Shakurus: Water's team already has an incredible lineup, so Water may be looking to pick up Art to goalie for him. Swift, Bulba, and Water will make a terrifying lineup in the playoffs, and if they can get a top goalie like Art, this team will go far.

Redstone: Redstone will not be picking up any top talent in the draft, and this may end up being a huge disadvantage for this team.

Aiur: Aiur recently traded Swift for Twodeuce and uproar, replacing Swift with Deuce in their ZHL Lineup. Without picking up a strong player in the free agency, Aiur has a rough time ahead of them with only Blitz to carry the torch.

This is the first time I have done something like this, and I will look forwards to seeing the war start in the comments section over what I have written. Let me know what you guys think, and I may do some more analysis, probably before playoffs start.

This is a good analysis that shows that the way to go if you have a strong team is to lose matches deliberately until you are in the last place to draft a top player

Death is also out there as a proven ZHL player, especially valuable for some teams who are east heavy

Just goes to show that winning the executors (regular season) is more honorable and prestigious than the tassadar cup

Or, the fact that #1 seed never wins just shows how distorted that "title" is. It's usually just the teams that have 4 players who never miss a single game, which is useful for regular season grind but come playoff time you need more than just "everyone logs on" im order to win. cya nerd

FA was fine up until recently.

Here's what WOULD HAVE happened :
-Vapour goes to Mar Sara. This is fine because MS needs to win out basically to make playoffs, and vap's attendance blows anyway from what he's told me.

Here's what happened in the background :
Owner(s): "my team could be improved if u joined would u like to play thanks"
People: ok ill sign up

Here's what happens now :
Kyle: AND WATERMELON HEADING UP THE ICE WITH BULBASAUR BESIDE HIM... OH NO STOLEN BY GUERRILA WHO PASSES TO RESSLAYER WHO PASSES TO PROSTER
Locked
