what to do close at the enemys net (in front of grey area)

Post by PinkVoid » Sat Jul 26, 2014 8:01 am

hello!

In the topic EU playstyle vs NA playstyle the general conclusion seemed to be that on EU the to go way to score is a 1 timer. This isn't as true as it was 1 or 2 months ago. People adapt. People learn and try new stuff of course. For example: I experiment a lot. For some time every game I saved my boosts and pretty much all I did was dunks and trickshots. I really noticed how it influenced other player to try stuff out too.

Since I went through over a hundred replays in the last few weeks, here is my impression:

The heavy 1 timer play isn't EU style in particular, it is the black knights style! And they do it really well, they don't hide what they do, they just do it really fast and precisely. I mean Shadybay, Salmanazar, Asgarr, Felix, this guys LOVE to pass.

Since they were more active on pubs, they popularized this playstyle a lot, along with the stops before receiving a pass - I think initially this was meant to make it easier for less experienced team mates to pass to them.

The white knights on the other hand there is only nex who loves to hit a cross. Joker and General I consider the two best offensive player EU.
Let me tell you: this guys don't stop and this guys don't voluntarily give away the puck. They dive forward as far as they can.

General mixes it up, whereas Joker just loves to go as close as possible towards the net, to juke and score from there. For me, he comes closer to the NA playstyle than anybody else on our server. One reason why Joker is so deadly is that people aren't used to that aggresive playstyle enough.

NA player seem to do that all the time, it is pretty much standard.

I would love to practice exactly this: what to do at the enemys grey area and popularize some techniques through our open training sessions.

Problem is: I suck at this position. And I don't know why. Very often I just lose the puck before I can do anything, at every other position I am comfortable holding the puck.

What's the mindsetting here?
You decide beforehand where to go and shoot and just hope your juke works? Simmilar to shooting where the keeper stands and expect him to boost away?
Or is it all about reaction and game sense?
Should I deactivate vsync, does this help me to react faster?
What about mechanics: When to use stop, when to use stop and slidestop together? I almost never use stop alone, hitting slidestop along with it is just a faster stop....

plz tell me how you do it.

I'm considering making an advanced scoring guide, using recorded video clips to show a lot of top NA players performing various types of shots.

(for example, kurt's snipes, maha's boosts across the net, cerv's "cerv dives", etc.)

Watched a rep of mahas boosts recently. Boost across. Turn zeal towards net. Press stop. Wait till past ff then shoot. Stopping with stick pointed in the correct direction makes shots more accurate

When I go for a close goal, I try to juke and juke and juke till the goalie leaves me an opening.
I've done the same charge at net move so much that it's easier to spot the openings in time but at first I might have planned out my moves more.
anyway this is what I've been doing lately:
1. Charge towards the goal, diagonally. For the purpose of this I'll just say from bottom side to top side.
2. I fake like im going to juke downwards, I click to the bottom side of the goal but I dont use my x move to actually commit to going downwards.
3. Once the goalie has moved towards the bottom, I use x to move to the top and shoot.
this doesnt always work, but it does work a lot
If f is a continuous real-valued function on a compact metric space M, then f is bounded on M.

Apparently I'm one of the best forwards in the game? Here's a look into my mind whenever I try to score.

Step 1: FEEL it.
Step 2: Score.

I hope this was enlightening to you all.
